EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Greetings CBA Instructors!
You’ve asked and we listened. And consistently you’ve asked for guidance on what counts as passing in evaluating student projects.
We will be hosting an All Instructors Zoom Meeting on July 12 at 6 pm PST that we are calling “Can This Gate Latch Be Saved?” It will be a fun, interactive session where we present photos of actual Level I student work and discuss with a focus on how to fix common problems.
One of the first challenges of Level 1 is to forge an S-hook to dimension. Would you pass this (photo of s-hook #1)? If not, why not? And how would you help the student? How do you get this (photo of s-hook #2)? Hint: the s-hook is all about understanding the measurements and bending on just the right spot on the horn. Student s-hooks tend to go haywire when they start forging instead of bending. We’ll discuss these situations and more!

We’ll also be looking in detail at student samples of the Level 1 Gate Latch Final. This past year we revisited the Level 1 Final resulting in a slight redesign to improve its functionality and a deep dive into how to best forge the parts. And we are excited with the results!
If you have not yet had a chance to attend one of the training sessions on the Gate Latch Final, check out our instructional video here - https://youtu.be/0iaIfV_pm0Q.
In addition, mark your calendars for Instructors Training (South) at Vista Forge on July 15 from 9 am. Dave Carroll will be teaching how to forge a basket twist within a basket twist. This is a forge-welding mind-bender and yes there is a trick to it. The training is open to all CBA Instructors. Road trip to Vista?!!!
We are here to help you help your students! We hope to see you at the All Instructors Zoom Meeting and upcoming events!
